Durand Cork Remover

A friend of mine (Dale Williams) has one and thinks very highly of it. He says that it can extract sensitive corks from older bottles that neither a worm-type corkscrew or ah-so can handle.

A few folks locally have them. Seems like they were a popular Christmas present this year. They're pricey, but they really do work extremely well.

Number of older bottles in my possession is increasing, which is making me think of buying a Durand.

Anyone have any other thoughts experiences with it?

Or with another device that you like better?

Robert, the Durnd is an invaluable tool and has never come up short the many times I've used it.

I've been buying them as gifts for people.

Love it. Use it every time I open a bottle 15 years or older, because I've learned that I can't reliably identify a bad cork until I pull it.

The only failure mode I've even seen with it happened last night on a bottle of '72 Briailles Ile-de-Vergelesses: as the worm went through the bottom of the cork, some of the bottom of the cork crumbled into the wine. And I've only seen this a very few times out of many uses.
 
I have two (someone gave me one after I bought one for myself):so i keep one in my wine bag and it is useful. My only complaint is that my hand is a little small and weak and so i sometimes have trouble extracting the cork (good thing I usually drink with men!).
