The Napa Valley Premiere Luncheon was held recently. Various vintners were present and shared their thoughts on Napa Valley in recent vintages, particularly 2011, and also with respect to the upcoming Napa Valley Vintners Barrel Auction.
What a nice opportunity to have lunch and meet with vintners Steve Reynolds, Bruce Phillips, Oscar Renteria, Madaiah Revana, and Michael Scholz, as well as with Suzanne Gay, Trade Relations Manager for Napa Valley Vintners.

2011 VINTAGE REPORT:
Winegrower reports are consistent. 2011 was a different -- and difficult -- year. The weather was cool with early rains. Aggressive leafing, considerable dropping of fruit, and careful cluster selection were often the rule. Winegrowers rose to the occasion...fine wines were produced.
The objective, as always, is to achieve the proper balance with the finished wines. The talented Napa Valley winegrowers dealt well with the vagaries presented by Mother Nature in 2011. This fact was readily evident with the barrel samples tasted at this luncheon.
The 2011 wines tasted as barrel samples showed very well, exhibiting charm, polish, and, above all, balance.
BARREL SAMPLES OF PREMIERE 2011 CABERNET SAUVIGNONS:
Renteria Stags Leap
