i'm planning on opening my 1st bottle of 05 foreau moelleux reserve tonight with some very spicy thai food. i will report.

(actually, i must admit, it is my first foreau moelleux reserve)

Very rich and sweet. Super balanced, but way too young. It was delicious, and I'm glad I opened it, but I'll wait for the rest.

I find it interesting that only Le Mont has apparently been affected in '02.
Brad, have you tasted 02 LHL demi sec recently?
We drank a bottle a few weeks ago and I didn't think it was premoxed, but it was a weird bottle, smelled like the liquid that comes out of a freshly opened oyster.

My bad 2002 Huets are all variations on this or headed towards sewage.

Smell of sewage? Reduction?

Or heading down the waste towards the sewage :)?

You'd probably have a greater instance of Pox at the actual Paulee.

spectacular day for white burgs at the paulee de beaune in november, only one p-oxed bottle of the ones I tasted; however, people may be bringing more and more pre-95 stuff, would need to go through my notes

But what does Uncle Vanya say?
"A wine can only become a man’s friend in three stages: first, she’s an agreeable acquaintance, then a mistress, and only after that a Muscadet."

checked my notes - indeed, most of the whites were 1992 or older, so not much to report

of the ones young enough to matter, 96 ramonet ruchottes was the culprit, while coche 01 village, leflaive 99 chevalier, leflaive 97 pucelles, coche 99 puligny enseignieres were excellent

of course these have just a tad of so2, so not sure why I am bothering to post this in the first place!

And Coche and Leflaive are known to be among the least affected producers:

No berets or handlebar moustaches? Or just a lot less reminiscent of Maurice Chevalier on a sloppy night?

re raveneau, maybe the wiki author was influenced by the same person who has declared that he has never had a single premox-ed bottle of coche

He was influenced by the number of premoxed/non-premoxed bottles of each producer reported to the wiki.

I think reporting has tailed off in recent years so it is most reflective of the state of things from 5? years ago or so.

Fwiw r.e. Raveneau, in August of '11, a friend threw a party and opened I think 18 bottles of '07 Raveneau Montée de Tonnerre. However, nine of the bottles ended up being put aside due to premox fears. I and a couple of other folks went through them to verify and it turned out three showed obvious signs of being premoxed, while a fourth was corked.

Gilman had posted in a thread recently on Wine Berserkers that he hadn't experienced any premoxed '02 Huet, but given all the talk about it, he was going to try some soon. Word is that he tweeted a couple of days ago that one of the bottles of '02 demi-sec he tried did indeed show advanced. I don't Twit, so anyone want to confirm or expand on this?

Brad,
You don't need to even have a Twitter account to read John's tweets. Here they are, and yes indeedy he had a "Very sad night at dinner table- 2002 Le Mont Demi-Sec from Huet showing overt signs of premox"
