CdP 1998 at the TGJP

Hello,
We made a very nice dinner at the TGJP in Paris last friday with 5 Chateauneuf-du-Pape 1998 (Charvin, Pegau, Vieux Donjon, Mont-Olivet & La Charbonniere) & 2 whites (De Moor & Cossais). see

A great line up of wines showing as they have for me. Well, I've never been fond of the Charbonierres Haut Brusquieres, which has too much wood for me, so I haven't really had any since I first tasted it. The 98 Papet, the first one made since 1990 I believe, is also the last of that cuvee that really was special. But it is a great wine.

First Papet was in 89, second in 90. 98 was the third. Yes, its was made by the father and the uncle. The colour is clear. And the mouth is very elegant. Since 99, the estate is running by the son and since 00 or 01 vintages, Cambie came (I don't know who was the worst for the estate between the two guys). More Papet (00, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07 & 09) & more marketing.
 
Good thing the last Papet I bought was the '90. Pricing often prods me to abandon wines that are stylistically not to my taste either -- how fortuitous! I hadn't realized that Mont-Olivet had been Cambified, but I haven't been buying much CNdP anyway of late.
