I bought a case of this from PC on uber close out (think, as hard as it is to believe, 4.99), and I'm happy.

04 Roty Bourgogne Pressonnier, tasting every bit the mini Gevrey it is. In 08 my bro and I rode our bikes from Lyon to Auxerre (as some of you might recall) and I have a clear memory of stopping to point out the vineyard to him from the upper slopes through which we were riding (something along the lines of, "dude, check out that vineyard down there, I have a case of 04 from there, what a trip, huh?)

So now I sit here reflecting on the memory of a partial memory and greatly love this wine. A lovely, unoaked eager pinot nose, fresh pinot fruit, zero oak, a gentle meatiness, and nicely acids. Not that complex, but not simple either.

Quite delicious with a steelhead caught yesterday in the Hoh, with a nice side of gently simmered Christmas Limas from Rancho Gordo.
