The 2002 L-P Le 'L' d'Or was good tonight as an aperitif rather than with dinner since we were eating calves liver.
However I tried it afterwards with some excellent artisanal Caerphilly cheese [one most often seen in industrial form] and the salinity in the wine worked with the unusual creaminess and depth of flavour of this 'real' Welsh cheese bought at Borough Market in London yesterday - one of our real food markets for the genuine article from fruit & veg and cheese to fish, game and meat of all sorts as well as the regular booths of the merchants from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland et al selling a very wide range of their countries’ goodies.
Borough Market was even more crowded with the opening of a large refurbished section within which many of the best suppliers had been 're-housed'. As it happened Prince Charles and Camilla were there too with TV crews which added to the scrum.
However there are many better places to buy wine [very few to buy fresh food though] although there are a few wine shops with interesting bottles but some much better wine shops are close by.
This thread has reminded me that I have a decent selection of Muscadet in the cellar that I really don't need to age even if they will be good years from now.
Bossard's Granite 2005 and the 2006s of the Gneiss and Orthogneiss will be in line over the next few weeks with Ollivier's 2009 Clisson and 2010 Thebaud to follow.
The wine tonight reminded me that I need some more Luneau-Papin cuvees since supplies are running low but I have had Joe's excellent thread and another by David Schildknecht on Jancis Robinson's site to jog that memory.

Sorry to hear that. But the first 1998 Chamonard Morgon from the recent release was incredibly young last night, no tertiaries whatsoever on show.
