How about Trestle? I hear it's going to be fairly cool that evening. I've also had recommendation not to go out in NY on St. Patrick's; any truth to that?

trestle sounds perfect. say 7?

my wife's daughter Maria is going to be in town that same night, because her son (my grandson Noah) is going to be performing Monday for Broadway Cares, so I've invited her to join us. I hope that will make the gathering even more scintillating!

Make sure you have dinner at Victoria Seafood at the Sun Hung Kai Center.

We made it there for lunch twice. Unfortunately we both fell asleep the night we were going to go there for dinner.

From memory:

deep fried turnip dim sum
some other deep fried dim sum
duck tongues
roast goose
roast cohipa
pig trotters
spring rolls
meat and mushroom fried rice
soup with fish maw
fried brisket
mango pudding
other mango dessert
coffee dessert - disappointing
fried dough dessert - disappointing

That's most of them but I'll add more as I remember them or check photographs.

Have you tried either of the other branches?

no, i haven't even been to this location. the old, original, was also in wanchai. actually, only been there for dinner. the whole fish is perfect, and they have some shrimp dishes that defy logic. it has been years, but i have amazing memories! so jealous!
