Patrick's new gig, NYC PSA

Another stunning list. I'm not often in NYC for non-BYO dinners these day sbut I'll have to try and make it there. Definitely a place to order off the list

I sampled the food pretty widely a couple nights ago. I think the cooking is excellent. Wine list is, as noted above, great and with many, many bargains. (but not the Roumiers -- perhaps not a shock, that.)

I always suspected the Tollot family were Irish.

What a wonderful wine list. But any list that starts with Gatinois rose gets my attention.

You and me both, brother.

A bottle of '10 Prévost there on Tuesday sang to us. And Kirk is right about the food.

Also, it should be noted in petto that the winelist on the website cleverly omits a couple of pages of back vintage-type stuff. (Wink, wink, nod, nod.)

I am strangely compelled to plagiarize "Wall Street"

- Try the Clisson. It's off the list, but Marc will make it for you.

A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat, eh?

Yixin will, too, I think, if you give him a bottle.

Kidding, naturally.

Can one make reservations or is this one of those obnoxious LES walk-in only places where you come in on a Thursday at 7pm and the hipster hostess, upon realizing you don't work in PR, fashion, or Kinfolk magazine, quotes you an hour and 45 minute wait for two people? I hate those kinds of places. Passionately.

Seems like it would be best to give it a miss and maintain your equilibrium.

It wasn't crazy busy tonight, though you did have the risk that you would have to chat with Daniel Johnnes and other wine industry luminaries.

But I can see the place getting busier. I'm sure they hope it will.

It would be safest to call ahead. No reservations in the current incarnation.

Um, why do you say no reservations? The hostess -- who is worse than Gene's imagination -- has a reservation list. And turns visibly more welcoming when she finds your name.

Though in truth, if you really expect to walk into a restaurant in a nightlife neighborhood at 19:00 on a Thursday without a wait, you may be confining yourself to the unsuccessful crop of new places.
