Which properties to visit in Beaujolais?

I might be near Beaujolais in a month or so. Which of the forum favourite producers accept visitors? The Finnish importer of Brun promised to get in touch if I can visit them but I would have time for a few more visits. So recommendations are welcome.

Hi Otto,

Jean Paul would certainly be top of the list.

As would Coudert.

Marcel Lapierre would have been but of course alas. I briefly met his son and he seemed like a nice guy.

Thevenet is great.

Chanrion.

Thivin (I say this recognizing the recent thread; he is a really nice guy).

If you go to see Chermette, understand he's way south in St. Verand, not St. Veran in the north (and which sometimes is known as St. Verand).

Eat at: Auberge de la Col du Truge - make it a high priority. If you don't go there make sure you at least get up high to take in the view.

And at Le Cep in Fleurie.

Folks I would like to visit and haven't are: Descombes, Desvignes, M. Tete.

Not to disagree in the least with Comrade BJ, but I would add that I am eager to visit Chamonard.

Thanks Brad! Which of these producers you mention speak English? My French is so rusty that I can't function with it very well at all.

Hmmm...that is tougher. I'm always there with Mme L and her French (and charm) is great. I think Jean Paul is the only good English speaker in that group if memory serves. At least, the only one who spoke in English to help me out rather than let the Mme interpret. And we didn't meet with Nicole Chanrion, but rather her sister.
