Bossard and the Catholic church

Apropos, there are attractive new photo essays of Luneau-Papin and Pepieres on the Louis-Dressner site's intro page.

The chat about multiplicity of rivers and, therefore, micro climates leads naturally to conjecture over the relative role played generally by micro-climate, vs. soil composition, in creating 'terroir' distinctions. Hardly novel musing, I imagine.

I suppose Bavaria isn't so close to Haus Keller, though.

It's closer than Hanover, however.

I hypothesized recently that in 10 years or so, the best expressions of terroir in many regions of France will be from bottles declassified to Vin de France and released under fanciful names, such that the best exemplars of an AOC will be wines that can't be labelled with the AOC. Nice of the Muscadet tasting panel to provide more support for my hypothesis.

I tasted the 2012 Granite, among others, at the Renaissance tasting about a month ago in the Loire. I have limited previous experience with his wines, but as a fan of Muscadet it was a favorite among the wines that were shown.
