I couldn't resist. I gave Fred's new release a few days to recover from travel shock and then pulled a bottle.
Scherrer Winery Alexander Valley Old and Mature Vines Zin '11 -- Dark red, dark berries, racy bouquet, medium body, good balance, good liveliness and freshness, maybe some glycerin, appealing litheness and allure, good core of light (read not heavy) fruit, should develop well.
Really went well with sauteed prosciutto, white beans and spinach, and savory green salad.
If there is still some available, I say grab it.
