Ten, offhand:

Selosse
Egly-Ouriet
Prévost
Lassaigne
Tarlant
Laherte
Benoît Lahaye
Marie-Noëlle Ledru
Vouette et Sorbée
Chartogne-Taillet

And one could also add David Léclapart, Pascal Doquet, Gaston Chiquet, Pierre Peters, Marie Courtin, Lilbert Fils, Diebolt-Vallois, Gatinois, Veuve Fourny....

However, this latest showing of TdV has me reconsidering. And I have always liked (with .sasha) the Blanc de Blancs. And '04 VV de Cramant was just da bomb.

But there is a lot of good champagne out there, praise the Noodle.

Andre Beaufort? For the rosé if nothing else.

The rose is lovely. The wines sometimes veer into the cider territory, however, I find.

Dare I say the sweet Polisy is pretty nifty....

No love for Richard Geoffroy?

(ducks, runs, hides)

Come out, come out, wherever you are.

This is not germane to the debate, unfortch, as we are talking growers.

Unless you mean his secret side project at Gimonnet.

(Joke.)

don't non-growers grow grapes?
(I had to think about that one for a while)

Another slutty ... champagne.

And stop slut-shaming!

Champagne can sleep with whomever it wants!

+1 Speaking as the resident Fer Servadou Slut, I find any denigration of the term to be personally offensive. Just sayin'

Not in the quantities required.

Required for what?

Do I care if there are 500 or 5000 cases of Clos des Goisses made?

So, to explain.

But to get down to it, the Bolorée already elicited an "ick" from me before I was poured any LB (by the gracious Mr. Wallace).

All sweet roundness, it had no structure. "Flabby" wasn't the point; it was orb-y. And quite short on the palate.

The aromatics of pinot blanc are odd, too: prompting the question: Is any pinot blanc good?

The anti-pleasure police are getting this put on their uniforms.

Sounds like a nice event - i'm coming up to ny quite a bit these days for work ( on the train back to dcc now in fact). Hope we can do something like what you organized for Bob (although like him, i'm not much for champagne).

Not much worth drinking at yankee stadium, which is where i was last night. After much searching, finally found the one IPA in the joint.

For sure. Let me know.

F. Chidaine 2009 Montlouis Sec "Les Bournais" Franc de Pied

How long do folks age the Les Bournais cuvees? I've mostly been following the 07 and the 08 of the regular. The 07 used to be so golden and sunny and would take a lot of air to get to the fresh mineral focus. I opened a bottle this weekend and it was fresh minerally and focused from the beginning, but maybe the fruit was tilting a slight bit more sour than I would have liked for the rest of the package.

So, should I be waiting to see what else emerges in the future?

I don't keep them, but they are more or less equivalent to good Vouvray--clay over limestone. So I would not be shocked to find them closing down at some point.

Something in that neighborhood, I don't know exactly.
