truth. And too much RS and Alcohol to balance the hops. The worst abomination though is casked stuff of this style you find around NYC - the lower carbonation makes them almost undrinkable.

The only reliable place to find a cask bitter is the spotted pig.

I confess to loving craft IPAs. My current fave, sweetwater IPA, is only available in the SE but fortunately i am in birmingham for a family wedding so i should get to have one this weekend.

I'm also a big fan of Sweetwater's IPA, though I sometimes take it for granted since it can be found at pretty much any supermarket here in Atlanta. The grapefruity hops make it a perfect summer beer for me. Their 420 American Pale Ale is not of the same class, but is widely distributed enough here that even most bars whose selection is dominated by mass-produced crap will have it on tap, so there is at least something drinkable.

My first love in the IPA world is Dogfish Head's 90 Minute IPA, though. The malty sweetness balances the hops to make it far easier to drink than an imperial ought to be, which has proved dangerous a few times. Their 60 Minute doesn't do much for me, but Great Divide Titan is a nice beer in the 6-7% range that is pretty easy to find, and their Hercules imperial IPA is pretty good as well.
