Pecina

I remember when Pecina first hit the market there was some discussion here to the effect that the Reserva (2001) seemed more successful than the Gran Reserva (1998). Well, I'm seeing the 2001 Gran Reserva around now - anyone had the chance to try yet? Thoughts on how it compares to the Reserva?

I am sure you'll let us know :-)
I thought 2001 Reserva was very nice as well. I don't see anything on their website that would point towards significant differences between R and GR, other than 36 vs 48 months in american oak, and I can only assume that if any of it was new we'd be running scared. The cepage looks the same.

A friend said that the R would be more appealing to Disorderly palates than the GR (which I've never had). I've drunk several bottles of '01 R. Terrific wine.

Sure wish I could find easy access to Franco Espanolas in the SF area.
