"suitcase" bottles from Burgundy

Just off the autoroute or main road south of Puligny is the Cooperatif for vineyard and winery supply. They sell boxes and styro there. Grab a roll of "fragile" marked tape and a sharpie to draw arrows to the right side up. The boxes they sell there are really compact and efficient. For wine, you can bring "a reasonable amount for personal consumption" back to the US. Last I checked, this was about 5 cases of wine if you can figure how to manage. 5 litres of hard liquor is the limit for strong stuff. Have fun!

Ok, i spent an hour trying to find this place. My recommendation is to go into Chassagne/Meursault and ask directions to the cooperatif viticole (sp?) Bourgogne Sud if looking for this. But the sign on the building is a little different. It's right near a clover-leaf immediately before Corpeau.

I can't resist a challenge.

The map at Site du groupe Bougogne du Sud can be navigated to show a pair of stores near Corpeau. click

One is labelled "depot" and the other "Horma'nat". I think the latter is a garden supply kind of place.

Hope this helps.

Hi Everyone: Thanks again for all the suitcase and burgundy foam-buying advice.
All 16 bottles arrived without a scratch; considering al the traveling, it's a miracle.
I used a combination of 6 bottle foam shippers and singles, and I also used an empty bag I brought and a cheap duffel bag that I purchased in Alba that could hold about a case.

This is what I learned:

It is much easier to get foam shippers in Piedmont than Burgundy - go figure.

Foam shippers placed inside a box precisely shaped to the shipper suffered the least damage;

Foam shippers placed in a duffel bag pretty much get destroyed, but the wine inside is miraculously unscathed;

If you have a lot of wine and are concerned about it, drop it off in odd-size luggage, as it goes through the least number of conveyor belts.

Thanks again.

Ps. in a month I'll tell you if it suffered any heat damage, but all were cool to the touch, right after the plane ride.
