Clos de la Tech on close out for $30 a bottle

Clos de la Tech is the pinot noir made by some crazy ass tech millionaire in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He says he wants to to be California's DRC. A lot of people say they'd like to try it but can't afford the price tag of $105 a bottle. It's on close out at K&L for $30 a bottle.
I bought three of the 2002, because that's the vintage people seem to like. The inaugural vintage of 2000 gets so-so reviews. The current release is the 2001. I can't find any notes on that.
Generally, they're supposed to be low alcohol wines. Lyle Fass on eBob described the 2002 as being darker than a cabernet sauvignon.
It would be nice if a disorderly went down, bought a bottle of the 2001 and posted notes on it to see if it's worth trying.

Awfully demanding, aren't we?

If a Veblen good goes on close-out, is it still a Veblen good?

As in Thorstein?

Not presuming to speak for Lyle, and I beg his forgiveness for quoting him, but I don't think "Interesting stuff. They seem to be making wine the right way but one of their Pinot's from 2002 was darker than a Cab. That worries me." necessarily indicates he has tasted or likes the wine. It could have simply been "interesting" in the same way it was to you.

I don't know that Lyle said he liked it. I think he's saying it's different.
Santa Cruz Mountains to me is one of the few places in California that actually has terroir. So I think that's a great place to try that kind of wine.

I think you've found your Disorderly!

Cool, Rahsaan. ARe you in San Francisco or Los Angeles?
I think you'd have to order online if you're in SF because it's only at the warehouse.

Neither. :(

I'm on the Cold Coast.

I was talking about you!

You were talking up the wine so much I figured it made sense for you to try it. I didn't realize they couldn't ship to you in Nevada.

Well, they will ship to me in Nevada. But by the time they ship it, I give it time for travel shock to subside and drink it it will probably be gone.
