That title struck a chord. My mom had many cookbooks from the 60's that really seem like a throwback to another time, another place. Although I enjoy looking through the books now and then, I never daydream about making anything from them.
 
THE WINES

Marcel Deiss Riesling '08 -- Light yellow, honey, crisp simplistic bouquet, all components in moderation and balance, good fruit backbone, some citrus, well put together, delicious.

Rudd Chardonnay Russian River Valley Bacigalupi Vineyard '05 -- Gold, citrus and apple/pear scents, floral notes also, good complexity/structure/balance, nice richness, Burgundian.

Stony Ridge Late Harvest Merlot '78 -- Mixed red, wonderful mellow old bouquet, light berries, some earth, mellow on the palate also but with good fruit and stuffing still, nicely complex.
