New York Times (Asimov) praises new California winemakers

I have to admit, I knew of only a few of them, like Jared and Tracey of A Donkey and A Goat below.

A Donkey and a Goat, Bedrock are wines I've tried. Jared and Tracey learned from Brezeme. BROC Cellars has been recommended. I've heard of LaClarine but I didn't know anyone else has heard of them.

Too bad Jim Cowan didn't make the list. Maybe he'll be our secret.

Of course, on the older list, I know lots of them.

Anyone have thoughts on the newer entries on the list?

I've liked the wines I've tried from Arnot-Roberts, Copain and Wind Gap quite a lot, Steve. Hank Beckmeyer of La Clarine has been known to post here now and again and SFJoe has gone on record in praise of NPA and the Monkey has recently been quite bullish (appropriate for a Durhamite) on the wines of Broc.

The one Eric missed that I'm quite bullish on are the wines of Kenny Likitprakong at Hobo/Ghostwriter/Folk Machine.

I'm anxious to try to get Salinia and Calluna to NC as well.

As I've written recently, CA is what I'm most excited about these days. Never thought I'd type those words.

I've recently tried and enjoyed the wines from Tatomer. I clearly see the Austrian influence in the wines, and I am looking forward to the future of this winery. When Asimov does get to Cowan Cellars it will be a great day for Jim but the rest of us are going to have to snap up what we can.

Best,

Brad

Had dinner last week with Duncan at the home of a friend who was responsible for an evening of wine & food at his home for a wine tasting group he & I belong to here in the valley. Duncan poured a Rose, chard, cab, & syrah during the course of the evening. Very impressive for low alcohol, wood, etc and just plain tasty wines of impeccable balance. He did this as a favor to us and our host because they were really sold out of the wines they poured for us. I know the wines will be sold in our store or at least what we can obtain of them for the store. Very impressive juice. If you get a chance to try them don't miss the opportunity.
