Clos de la Roilette, Fleurie, 2009
Perfect summertime drink. Youthful, but drinking nicely now, like that slurpable puppy hugging your legs it just won't let go. Lush fruit, bing cherry mash, and peaches...more accessible and 'friendly' than the usual Roilette, which to me is not a bad thing. Nosh to all you 09 haters. A-

My 09 's are open for business but I'm sure will age a bit. 2010 Tardive with grilled flank steak an grilled broccoli rabe sandwiches tonight was terrific.

The only other 09 I've opened recently is the Vissoux Fleurie Garants, which was good enough, but, imo, still more closed than open.

Opened a Baudry '09 Rosé a few weeks back and it was just singing, bright, clear and fresh with all that wonderful minerality. I was pleasantly surprised.

2009 Roilette smelled lovely last night, the gobs of strawberry given some seriousness by a backbone of lead pencil. Mouth was a little less appealing because of a bitter finish (harking back to Mark's thread, perhaps those in their forties would feel this less), but showing good balance and heft. Open for business, but not necessarily an argument for ageing.

Same page as Oz: finished my last glass last night on the 3rd night open, which was not as good as nights 1-nights 2. Just lovable. The pup is still a little slurpy.
