eating and drinking in Cape Cod

I had a good meal at Fin in Dennis (~10mi from Hyannis) a while back. Also, Black Fish in Truro, but that is a long way up the cape from you.

Pretty average wine lists at both.
 
If I was there I'd be looking for a place that serves the local seafood. I always try to find a local wine store and ask them about restaurants. That's usually a fount of info. A bucket of steamers would top my list.

Hi Steve,
A place my wife and I like is a French Bistro called L'Alouette. It's in East Harwich right on Rte 28.
Traditional food with pretty good fois gras, steak frites or moules frites, rack of lamb and seafood. The wine list is not long, but interesting and thoughtful, and reasonably priced. Twice I had 2001 Trimbach CFE 375th Anniversaire for less than retail, but that was an aberration.

It's not trendy, and If you go early, expect the blue-haired set.

Chillingsworth in Brewster is the Cape Cod standard for fine dining for years, and remains excellent. Beautiful place too. Pricy.

Have a great time in Harwich.

And if you are not grease-averse, the worlds best onion rings are at " Kreme and Kone" not too far east in Chatham on Rte 28 just past the sign for the Chatham airport (or in a more sterile setting at the corner of 28 and 134 in Dennis.

Lou has a point about seafood of course, and the Wellfleet oysters were delicious last weekend.

Had dinner there July 5th and it was indeed very good.
Wine list reasonable ( had argiolas Vermentino for 28 and a middling 2007 St Joseph that worked with our meals for about 60)
Actually, the espresso was fine.

When I lived in Chatham, 12 years ago, we were regulars at The Brewster Fish House. People used to line up at 5 pm for the 5:30 opening. I haven't been in years, but my friends who still live there say standards are being maintained. Very good food, reasonably priced. The wine list is meh. It's on 6A at the east end of Brewster.

I have not been to Fin, but our friends say it is very good. If you're an NRBQ fan, I think Johnny Spampinato's wife Wendy is working there (she used to be at the Fish House).

There is also an Israeli restaurant called ABBA in Orleans that is surprisingly good.

Lastly: It's a long way out to P-Town, but Ten Tables on Bradford Street may be worth the trip. We were last there two years ago. The food was excellent, and while the wine list was short, it had some imaginative selections.

Guess I'd give a second endorsement for Chillingsworth. I never much liked the place, but the food was definitely top-rung for Cape Cod.
