NWR: Dining in Amsterdam recs?

Asking for a friend. Common explanation in Amsterdam, I'm sure...

Anyone have any specific recommendations for Amsterdam dining? They mentioned steak, though I'm not sure if that's a desire for steakhouse or necessarily indicative of adventurousness.

If they do discover their feeling of adventurousness, Spang Makandra (tram 16/24 to Albert Cyupstraat) is an excellent place to try some Surinamese cuisine. It would best be described as a "mash-up" of Indonesian and Caribbean food.

Wilde Zwijnen is great for authentic Dutch food remade for politically correct yuppie palates, but it's a shlep on the trams, and you'll have to book because it's pop-y:

Bump. Any updates? (All three of the places mentioned above are still in business but I have not checked their reps yet.)

I'll have two nights in Amsterdam (or one night in Amsterdam and one night in 's-Hertogenbosch) at the end of April.
