Not 'Californian' enough

Maybe I have an odd sense of humor but I got a good laugh out of this Cellartracker tasting note:

2010 Arnot-Roberts Syrah 'Clary Ranch'
A well made wine but not our cup of tea. Could easily have been picked as a French wine if tasted blind.

This wine is actually really good, but standard "California syrah" it is not. The vineyard is a stone's throw from the pacific ocean and totally isolated. In 2010, it was picked in November and almost didn't ripen. Austere even by the standards of "new California producers".

CT's choice of language is priceless; thanks, Slaton for the sly reply!

Hey don't laugh: I thought a Rhys syrah tasted like a Crozes-Hermitage, and that was a complement!
