First a comment! These notes may be even less useful than usual as I seemed to have difficulty grasping what some of the wines were trying to offer.
WINES
L. Aubry Fils Aubry de Humbert Champagne 1er Cru '02 -- Medium yellow, fleeting bouquet, apples, citrusy nuances, fruit mostly balances the acidity, some nuttiness, a tad dry. [VG - E]
Didier Dagueneau Pouilly-Fumé '10 -- Pale yellow, pleasing grassiness, light citrus, airy, so pure, medium acid, good balance, lots of personality, food friendly, deep complexity. [E]
Rene & Vincent Dauvissat La Forest Chablis 1er Cru '11 -- Light yellow, complex bouquet with good depth, citrus fruits, tightly knitted, maybe some nuts, dry profile, medium+ acid, [VG - E]
Comte Armand Clos des Epeneaux Pommard 1er Cru '08 -- Medium red, heavy bouquet, some wood, firm red fruits, rather hard-shelled presently, muscular in an edgy way, reluctant personality. [VG]
Chateau Canon-la-Gaffelière '05 -- Inky red, big dark fruits, earth, maybe some chocolate, firm almost unyielding tannins, full/strong/weighty, quite young, perhaps some plums, hard wine to get around (I may be underrating it). [VG - E]
Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal Vendange Tardive '08 -- Dark yellow, numerous tropical fruits, nuts, spicy bouquet, complex flavor profile, plenty of acid that's well buffered, almost Tokaji-like. [E]
