"Cannubi" Confusion?

This article suggests that a federal commission in Rome has diluted the meaning of "Cannubi" by doubling the amount of land that can use the name. However, a lengthy and reasonable-sounding comment suggests that the details are not so black and white.

Does anybody have the real scoop on what happened here?

You have the Marchesi di Barolo winery on one side, and B. Mascarello and Brezza on the other. I'm with Mascarello and Brezza.

Looks like they can now label as Cannubi wines sourced from what had been considered the satellite vineyards. Think "Latricieres-"Chambertin and "Chevalier-"Montrachet. I'm pretty sure that this has been happening for a while, anyway.
