04 Grezeaux

It's really good. Great inner energetics, and lots of leafy complexity. I thought it would be way too young but it was quite enjoyable, subtle.

This particular cuvée has always been a drink and hold for me.
Rarely get a closed down bottle, and I always seem to enjoy it at whatever age.

Edited to add the 2009 version wasn't particularly enjoyable young.

Normally I would never drink something at this stage, but it was all we had on hand for the energy of the moment...

Incidentally, Matthieu told me with great seriousness that this vintage was one to sit on...

I opened the 10 Grezeaux and Guillot 6-8 months ago: imo, the Guillot is a much better candidate for early drinking. Nathan's mileage may vary.

I would concur with this assessment as well.

Because Guillot has more lift, sure.
As to conclusions drawn from that - mileage may vary as you say. I guess we are exactly where we started then.

I think that is certainly true for the Croix Boissée which does not like to be woken, at all.

I've really enjoyed 2004 Grézeaux recently. I'm down to 3-4 bottles and will certainly have one this winter. It's really fun to do 2002-2005 in a sitting. Really shows how this site maintains its core self while still expressing different vintages.

That wouldn't really surprise me. 2010 Croix Boissée wasn't too shabby a couple of months ago.

I don't expect to put these in the queue for another few years.

How's 11 looking in Chinon and Bourgueil?

2011 Domaine is delicious. Buy every vintage of Baudry and who cares about anyone else, so vintage doesn't matter.

Their 2010s are special, though.

Time will tell. But I'm personally regretting not buying more 2006,2007 and 2008. Would be nice to have now to drink. All I have left from those vintages are Croix Boissée.
