Vienna dining suggestions?

I'd swear by the cheap schnitzel at Gasthaus Schmidt somewhere off the Mariahilferstrasse. But that's the study abroad student in me drinking liter flaschen of weinviertl gruner from the naschmarkt. Actually good, current recommendations, much less vegetarian? Sadly, no. I have young children and a domestic wine business. maybe someday.

Life was so much simpler during the study abroad days, wasn't it!

I never came to Vienna then, but have plenty of sweet sweet memories from other places in Europe.

Although I'm not really sure it was simpler. Just different.
