Jon Bonné's New Book

SFJoe

Joe Dougherty
Is looking pretty sensible from this excerpt in the Chron. Nothing shocking to this audience, I suppose, but slightly remarkable from the main guy at the paper that the Napafolk think should be entirely about boosterism. Dude has always made sense.

The "irrational exuberance" bit has gotten Jon some flack. I'd be the last person to defend that style of Pinot Noir, but those wine makers did have a reason for making them.

Perhaps rational overexuberance might be a more accurate assessment.

It's a good book. Tons of producers covered - not all of which fit the book's thesis, to be honest, but there are plenty of good recs in there, some new to me which I am curious to check out. The profiles on each are on the short side as a result, though, in the usual breadth over depth situation.

I agree. Overall a very well done book. A few new producers for me as well and only a small number of omissions (in particular Ambyth).

Nothing irrational about this. Note price is per guest.
