Charles Helfenbein 2010 VdP des Collines Rhodaniennes "La Syrah" tastes like young-vines syrah in a N. Rhone style: high-acid, blue-fruit, rather ripe (at least, it's rather sweet), good purity, and a tell-tale hint of smoked meat and lavender. Easily slurpable for $15.

Agreed. His other wines are slurpable, too, if a bit more serious: Saint-Julien-en-Saint-Alban, and Brézème. For drinking nowish whilst one waits for one's Texiers to come around. Not that the wines relate to Texier's otherwise.[/quote]
