How was the '05 Montille? I had a surprisingly open 2005 Rollin earlier this year so I'm curious to hear more examples of how the vintage is drinking

WINES:

Paul Pillot Saint-Aubin Le Charmois 1er Cru '08 -- Mildly fragrant, still rather closed in, nice elements in balance, medium complex, buttery citrus notes. [VG]

Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc '10 -- Generous bouquet, appealing fruits, citrus and apple flavors, good grip, perhaps a bit simplistic befitting its pedigree but still [VG - E]

Joseph Drouhin Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru '05 -- Light golden yellow, effusive bouquet, some nuttiness amidst all sorts of generous fruits, toasty nuances, wonderful complexity, holding well. [E]

Domaine de Montille Pommard Les Pèzerolles 1er Cru '05 -- Dark red, pungent aromas, pure berries, medium tannins in play but well buffered, appealing complexity, good spice, wine kept on keeping on. [E]

Lucien Le Moine Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru '07 -- Dark red, brawny restrained nose, black fruits, rather muscular, intermingled spiciness, quite concentrated profile, could be more "friendly". [VG - E]

Jay, Very impressive! The Montille and the Batard were the wines of the night on my card.

The Montille was drinking nicely but will certainly make good old bones...which I feel is consistent with 2005s (to the extent one can generalize about Burgundies).
