Purpleness

Victor de la Serna
It's been a few days since I had the pleasure of sharing some great wines (yours) and some not so great ones (mine) with a few of you in NYC. Let me get back to you: How did you finally find my wines' level of purpleness, compared to a few years back? ;-)

I suspect that if you put on a stylin hat, grew a beard and got some ink done, you and your wines would blend right in to the fabric of Brooklyn.

It was great seeing you as always, Victor. Hope you're back soon.

Mmmm... So now it's just a matter of finding a sales rep with the right look and we'll have the stuff in Brooklyn shops in no time! Thanks for the tip! ;-)

I am remiss in not yet opening either of the '04 or '06 Finca Sandoval wines, Victor. I will try to remedy this soon, though perhaps they're not recent enough to address the title issue of purpleness.

Victor,
It was really a treat to see you, and to try on the New Purple. I was impressed by how you maintained the essential Purpleness of the wines while dialing down on structural elements that had been more prominent. The colors still signaled PURPLE, but the flavors and textures were more mauve. This, natch, was fine with me.

I wish I had my notes to comment more specifically, but I am in about the 12th hour of flying in the last 36, so home is far away. I will be very interested to taste the FS from a more recent vintage.

More comments when I can.

I won't try to fake it, Mark: 04 is a much, much better vintage than 06! That said, maybe it's time to take a look at how 06 is holding up!

I thought in NY it was poiple.
Hopefully one of these years you can make it to the left coast, or possibly I'll be in NY when you make that journey.

It was said by some on this severe forum that it was. But since I started making some grenache I've come to like a light garnet...
