2009 CRB Cabernet

Salil Benegal

Salil Benegal
It has that classic CRB lightness of touch and sense of purity, as well as the green herbal Cab Franc accents around the fresh red berried fruit I remember from release. Now there's also a very pretty floral scent that develops and emerges with some time in the glass, and a very polished texture though it still shows some grainy tannin on the back end. One of those wines I wish I could both drink and hold, though I'll give my other bottles a few years more.

Has anyone opened an 09 Cot recently?

Earlier this year by accident (thought I was opening a gamay). It was surpisingly fantastic - not at all shut down.

Have you tried Noella Morantin's Cot?
I can't seem to find the CRB version anymore.

2009 may have been the last vintage of cot. The grapes go into the Pif.

Irrelevant technical details. CRB Cot Is Always With Us.

Little know fact about the CRB Cabernet: it is actually a blend of cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon.

Predominantly CF. The highest percentage of CS I am aware of is 20% in 2005.

The 2009 was 25% CS. According to Catherine, they macerate them together to cancel the individual characteristics.

The explains removal of any distinguishable individual characteristics of storage customers after several bottles of CRB are opened in The Cellar.
