2 good T-day wines

drssouth

Stephen South
2007 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin, Chablis Grand Cru, Les Clos, alc 13%....rich, unctous, deep, just singing...aging nicely

2001 Domaine G. Roumier Morey-Saint-Denis, 1er Cru Clos de la Bussiere, alc 13%...dark brooding rich ever changing....just at a peak of goodness...really one of the best Roumier's I've had in quite some time

(Got to try this with Christophe Roumier at WOPN several years ago in a seminar...he contrasted the '01 with the '02's from this and from the les Cras from Chambolle Musigny..he predicted a long life and this bottle supports that...after this AM seminar, a lunch with him included his 1988 Bonnes Mares from magnum..wow....)

That was quite the memorable seminar. As usual, we ran out of the featured producer's wine about 10 minutes into the lunch and attendees grumbled (except for the tables that had snagged bottles on their way in). The rest made do with non-Roumier wines, and it seemed like the more they drank, the less they seemed to care about it. It's funny the way that works sometimes...

-eden (that mag was pretty damn good)
