The only Desvignes I dip into these days is 2009...
I have one bottle of Desvignes 1999 CdP left. Is it ready?

Jeff, a bottle drunk one year ago appeared to be heading over the hill. Not a huge field of data there but better than nothing.

Overall '97 and '98 appear to be holding on better than '99 and '00. A '96 Savoye Morgon VV a few months back was also getting rusty. The '95 version seems to have passed on. Not that anyone was asking for a vintage chart.

Thanks, Kay. And thanks for the other data points, too. Never know when you might meet a dusty Morgon in a cold, dark corner.

That 2006 the other night was not ready.

you mean a little too powerful and spherical, in a juicy way, with not enough detail ?

If so, I agree, except I don't think these 06s will become more interesting. what you see is what you get. Of course, I'd like to be wrong on this one.

This bottle was pretty shy aromatically. The rest of your descriptors fit well.
Big and brooding. I have no clue where it's going.

I didn't buy a lot of 2006 Beaujolais.

We drank a 98 Chamonard Morgon the same night as the 2006 Desvignes that I thought was spectacular. A lot spices in the nose. There was a bitterness and slight hardness to the finish that maybe detracted from the overall experience but the aroma was a wow.

SueSue and I have drank 4 bottles of the Desvignes Javerniers. Initially I thought it was one of those wines where the tannins outlast the fruit. The last one in mid September seemed to soften a little. That plus your note gives me nope for my remaining bottles.
BTW, the 2005 Savoye CdP VV is drinking beautifully, but no need to be in a hurry.

VLM is always giving out nope.

When I ordered my 2005 Desvignes Javernieres, David Lillie paused and said "That's a serious wine, you can start drinking it in ten years.' This was immediately after I'd ordered some Hureau Lisagathe, which he'd said could reasonably be opened in six or seven.
