there for work. anyone in town want to get together for thai food and wine? LOS of course, but also the smaller chada thai (which has a kookier wine list).

and recommendations for wine stores in vegas would be great too (other than valley cheese & wine—will be downtown and would prefer not to have to go out to henderson)

I haven't looked around in Las Vegas for a few years, but I think you've found about the only wine store that Disorderlies would like.
The Cosmopolitan had a few restaurants that carried wines Disorderlies would like, but I can't remember the names.

If you're looking for cheap places to eat that aren't wine related, Bacchi Burger has Asian-influenced hamburgers that a great. KoMex is a fusion Korean and Mexican place. Get the beef shortrib tostada (rice tortilla).

Crepe Expectations is great for breakfast and lunch.
Beijing Noodle Cafe has hand-pulled noodles. It's on the eastern edge of Las Vegas.
DW Bistro is Caribbean and New Mexico food. Top quality food. They actually had some nice wines, but I'm not sure they go with the food.
Monta Ramen serves up tasty ramen for less than $10 a bowl. Quite popular, so expect a wait. In or near Chinatown.

I recently read about a place called Marche Baccus. It is a french bistro and wine shop. You can open any wine from the wine shop in their bistro for an extra $10 charge. Never been there but it sounds like it could be a reasonable alternative since it is off the strip (20 minutes or so).

steve and robert: thanks for the tips. i'm going to go by DW bistro tomorrow. some people on the ground tell me that marche bacchus goes "deep on that cab sauv stuff." probably worth a visit but i don't have a great feeling about it.

however: i was moseying around the newly opened downtown container park when i spied, through the darkened window of bin 702 ("wine bar, salad bar, sandwich shop"), what looked a lot like a bottle of foillard 3.14. and so it was. plus some bottle or another from sandhi. the operation looks promising if improbable. i'll report back after i've properly cased the joint.

and: on a hot tip, i went out to khoury's fine wine and spirits in henderson—meh.

Resurrecting this thread as I am going to Vegas for business next week. Any decent shops? Looking for old california cabernet and / or other US stuff difficult to find in Europe (Kalin, Edmunds St. John)

Thanks in advance

Best regards,
Ignacio

as far as i'm aware, valley cheese and wine is the only serious game in town. i'm pretty sure they carry ESJ (plus bob is a really nice guy who might be able to hook you up if you let him know what you want in advance).
