What did you drink tonight?

At some point we should consider starting a What did you drink tonight? II thread.

This is taking longer and longer to load, especially on the iPad.

Jay, are you suggesting that technology has its limits? Shocked. Shocked, I am.

You know, I'm sure the Politburo can relocate this thread to the bottom of the list where you and your little friends can reload it all day for your own amusement.

(Oh, for an ironic iconic.)

Well, it would help in he who shall remain unnamed didn't upload any photographs, especially those which only cause unmitigated envy.

Nice. Well done.

On the meta question, I had another bottle of 2011 Octavin Trousseau last night. Confirmed my opinion that I like the 2010 better. Some funky stuff going on in the 2011s that I have opened.

You mean 2011 Roilette? Mine have been kinda weird. A very subtle hint of burnt barrel or something. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Yep, every bottle like that. Gave up on it.

I haven't noticed that. I'll pay more attention to my next bottle.

2011 the other night was vivid and lovely and maybe a little, ah, umm, ahem, young.

I've been enjoying the 2011 Griffe du Marquis recently, and while it may be young, it is delicious, which makes me happy.

Tonight I opened a bottle when the 09 Louis Boillot Volnay Grands Poisots was slow to get going, and I needed something to drink with dinner. Eventually the Boillot was stellar, but so was the 11 Griffe, in its own quicker easier way.

I'm glad you like the Boillot. I really think that this is a (more or less) undiscovered gem.

this Volnay was beautiful from barrel, on a trip during which I disliked many wines from many cellars

My last 08 Occhipinti Frappato was maderized, while a 08 Occhipinti Nero d'Avola seemed both a little closed nose-wise and a little decadent (as in tired) mouth-wise, a contradiction of sorts. Both ex-Convivio.

Nice. My only complaint with the 09 GP is that I didn't buy enough and am already finished with the bottles!

who knows, you may have done the right thing

the school of thought that claims successful village and upper level bourgogne 09s to be as good as they are going to get has emerged from more than one quarter

Yeah, I didn't have dreams of future development (for that I have 09 Boillot Brouillards and Chambolle village, which will not be touched for a while), but I wouldn't mind drinking more of the 09 GP over the next few months.

I guess that's my reward for being cautious and only buying a few Poisots 'to see if I like them'.
