Had a speed-dating style jeeb in West Lafayette the other day with prof Mark Lipton.
In town to visit Purdue with my oldest, Mark and fam graciously made time to share a glass on short notice with this tired traveller.
What was it, Le Haut Lieu 2014 sec? Whatever, it was lithe and alive, just the thing to revivify after a day of travel.

2011 LHL sec, a victory for that year (and still quite alive). A most distinct pleasure it was, Don, under rather forced circumstances. I too selfishly hope that Alan's choice falls a given way and we can show you the trilobites and fish fossils we collected.

Depends whether you think the brett will stay within the guidelines of your palate. It was mild now but who can say what the future may bring?
The wine itself is fundamentally strong but the brett soured it up a bit by the second go-round.

Right now, this is a beautiful wine. Restrained, strawberry-cherry flavors catch with the tannins in the back of the throat, but it's all about texture - fine, chalky tannins, the delicate, lacy acidity of aged (good) Gamay, percussive bursts of tartness around the gums and center of the tongue. The finish is a bit short - that is, the 'after-image,' which doesn't persist as long as you'd expect. May be time to drink up from 750.

Last night a glass of the Laurent Cazottes Goutte de Prunelart. I'd forgotten how much I like this stuff. I never remember I have it and it just sits on the shelf. Beautiful brandy.
