The Schramsberg Demi-Sec was a big hit with The Sparkling Lady and my partner.
The Corison gewurz was sold out but they had added Philip Kuhn 2011 Riesling "Alte Reben" Trocken. This was pop and pour ready, clean, crisp but not too sharp, nicely ripe. Good enough that we finished two bottles!
The Lanessan was sold out so we went for one bottle each of Artezin Zin and the Avignonesi Montepulciano. The Italian wins that competition but they were a good pair, one a bit drier and one a bit sweeter, one a bit tannic and one a bit lush.
The food was somewhat better than I expected it to be: my colossal stone crab claw was excellent and the porterhouse had a good crust.
The situation, alas, was kinda noisy and busy. The waiter said that the week leading up to the SuperBowl has been busy but tawdry.
Finally, a surprise to us all, my brother pulls out the company card and picks it up. It turns out that a certain very successful salesman is rather tardy on his paperwork and this was his (the salesman's) way of making it up to him (my brother, the comptroller). And my brother knows how to share his toys.
