Jeff - There's no Excel or PDF download that I am aware of. But did you look at the Advanced Search function? It seems to have the "standard" search categories and such:

Yeah and it turns up two red burgundy lots.
It is Feb 14th and no current auctions appear available. I can look at recent and future....

Maureen (I think) - I just did an Advanced Search with three criteria, France, Burgundy and red and turned up only three hits. Which is inaccurate, I know we have a lot more than this. Reporting to boss soon.

Steve - I dunno, even when not logged in I can now see all 538 lots in the auction, as listed numerically, etc. I assume you hit the "Auctions" link and then the "Upcoming Auctions" link from the drop down menu. There's only three auctions listed and this current internet is the first one. See if this link helps.

This is the first since the auction went live that I have heard someone could not access the auction. Maybe clear computer cache? Hmmm.

one would think "current auction" might be an option

Steve - True that, adding it to the list! Should be three "buckets" - past, current, future.

Maureen - My boss said the advanced search issue is a known bug and he has been working on it all day so I'd expect the search function to behave better soon enough, apologies for lack of utility in the meanwhile. There is indeed a bunch of red Burgundies in the auction.

My boss said the advanced search function should now be working much better. If there's any issues, please let me know. Otherwise, hopefully it will help you find the kinds of wines you seek.

Marc,

In general - the search function is completely disconnected from the "live" lot listing, is that right? In other words, you can search for 1959 Clos St. Denis Ponsot in Magnum, it will spit out the search results, informing you it's in lot 666, at which point you have to go back to the listings and find the lot.

Something to think about in the future.

Hey Sasha,

Here is what I just experienced. Not logged in as a registered user, just as a guest.

If you are on the main page (http://www.wallysauctions.com/). There's the search bar window which is more or less ubiquitous these days. Type in a name such as "Lafite" and nothing happens.

However, if you navigate to the February online auction page (http://www.wallysauctions.com/auctions.html?auctionId=1228) and type in "Lafite" in the same window it will give you hits. Unfortunately, it's everything! Lots one to the end.

Now, if you use the advanced search function and type in "Lafite" it gives you 26 hits, which a quick peruse by moi is accurate, only entries with the word "Lafite" in them is returned.

So! When I get to work tomorrow I clearly have to point out that the "basic" search function is not adding much value, albeit they seemed to resolve the issues with the advanced search function.

I don't really know what you are speaking to in your example. That is, a hypothetical is not helpful. If you have a specific example of a search which informs you it is in Lot XYZ and then you have to go back to the listings to find the lot, I need to know which wine you are talking about. Otherwise, the developers will shrug and say tell me what you want specifically. The general search function should apply only to live auctions. What the heck would be the point otherwise. Unless there was a specific search function to review past auction results.

Marc,

Scenario 1. Go to the live auction, type in "Monbousquet" in the search box. Now you are still in the live auction lot listing, but only 3 lots show up, filtered by the search. All good.

Scenario 2. Go to live auction, go to Advanced Search, type in "Monbousquet" in the description search field. 6 listing show up at the result of this search, spanning 4 different lot numbers. (Why 4 lots vs. 3 lots in Scenario 1 is left as a homework exercise). This is all very nice, but notice that we are no longer in the live auction lot listing; we are on a report page, representing everything that satisfied the search. We can click on each report item *individually* to take us to the View Lot Detail screen, but what we can't do is get to the live auction lot listing, with only the lots satisfying the search criteria displayed.

Bottom line. The output in Scenario 1 is very useful. You have all the relevant high level info, estimates, bids, etc., only for the lots you've searched. I don't see much use for the intermediate report screen that shows up in Scenario 2. It would be ideal if you were taken to the same lot listing as in Scenario 1, with the added benefit of having performed an advanced search.

Sasha, thanks for the specific feedback, I am in the process of forwarding it along.

Based on your two concrete scenarios and your earlier statement (quoted here), the search function is not disconnected. But certainly the connection is clearer with the "Scenario 1" search results. In "Scenario 2" you can click through to the specific lot web page by clicking on the wine name (e.g., hover over where the search results all say "Chateau Monbousquet" and you will see these are hotlinks).

But like you said, the "Scenario 2" results is a possibly unnecessary intermediary step to get to the sort of data provided with the "Scenario 1" results.
