ESJ in Kyoto

finally was able to track down a local source and a batch arrived this a.m. for the holidays. aside from a single bottle (2001 Viejos Rozet Vineyard) which Bill B so generously shared with me in AZ last July, these are my first ESJ wines. 02 blonk!, 03 rocks and gravel, 04 bone-jolly gamay (love the label). anything i should sit on, or can i freely pull corks a couple weeks from now?
 
You can safely sit on the Rocks (bring a cushion), or not, as you prefer. The others are nice now. Steve's advice may differ, however.
 
How can I get some in Canada, well, Nova Scotia, to be more precise.

I do get to Montreal and Toronto on business, but have never seen any there. Soon may be doing work in Maine....

I have a distributor in Maine; South Portland Wine Co. I hope they're still in business; they've been pretty quiet lately...

Hmmm. Well, I'll try that. Only ever had an older bottle Lou K brought to an offline in SF a few years ago that was marvelous.

I have a distributor in Maine; South Portland Wine Co. I hope they're still in business; they've been pretty quiet lately...

I bought a couple of bottles of the Rocks and Gravel in Wiscasset this summer, hoping they'd see it moves and buy more.

just now working on a glass of the '01 blonk! and thoroughly enjoying it. poured from half of a 750 recanted into a small bottle last night and it's showing the wine opening up. nice tea note aromatics - lapsang souchon? earl grey with milk and honey? (sorry, i'm not much of a tea drinker) and a bit of lemon peel on the nose too. lovely mouthfeel, long, long finish. almost peaty. with the low acid, i'm finding it better to sip on it's own (had it with fish last night). perhaps there's a cheese. very nice, Steve.
 
take that back, the acidity has developed in a gentle, subtle way. today's seafood test showed the wine off nicely (tho still a pleasure to sip on it's own). make note to self to double decant overnight for the next bottle.

Steve, any idea what village cellars over here will be bringing in of yours next? I get the feeling that shipments are few and far between.

Always enjoy 'em, but gave them to a friend in Kittery to show him what American wines ought to taste like. Got a nice little (medium) stash at home in New Jersey.
