Probably like other Disorderlies, I've been buying Marcel Juge's retirement wines. They only arrive on the east coast, but I buy some and have them shipped. Been doing it for several vintages.
The 2009 is newly arrived. Gilman sent an e-mail to all subscribers trumpeting about it this morning, and now the wine is sold out everywhere, a few hours later. I'm annoyed, although I realize perhaps not for good reason. People pay critics for information. But I do wish Gilman had just included the note in a newsletter, so that folks who already buy the wine didn't get shut out. Frankly, if you don't already know about Juge, your cellar might not be the most fitting home. There's not much of it, and Gilman perhaps should have foreseen the likely effect of his e-mail, including on his several subscribers who already know and buy, or bought, the wine.
