08 Rhys alpine vineyard PN

2008 Rhys Santa Cruz mtn alpine vineyard Pinot noir , alc 13.2%. Dark dense and aggressive ...youthful but quite nice .... Visit again in a couple of years. More impressive than the 07 recently

Recently 2008 Rhys Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard, similar 12.8% alc, but I expected more. Dark and dense, lots of structure, shutting down, a cellar wine. Impressive, however I worried about an apparent lack of acids.

On release this seemed like a wine for the long haul. With '08 Burgundies shutting down I'm not surprised to hear this and wasn't planning on touching for a long time.

Jay, sounds right to me. A US based friend brought this to a lunch. I wouldn't open for at least 5 years.
