Any advice on good places to buy wine on the east coast from say Palm Beach south to Miami? Or alternately Sarasota to Fort Meyers?
 
West Coast: Bleu Provence in Naples, connected to the restaurant of the same name so check the hours.
East Coast: Wine Watch in Fort Lauderdale.

The wines never seem as fresh as what you get up north but both these places have temperature control in the store.
 
In Sarasota, Whole Paycheck Foods carries some LDM selections, mostly things like Iche Les Heretiques. Morton's is a high end food market that has a temperature-controlled wine room with some interesting things in it. I can pretty reliably find Huet Petillant there when I'm in town. I've also seen Foillard there. And, if you're there, why not a dinner at Bern's in Tampa?

there is nothing temp controlled except a case for chilled wines at the Morton's wine store. I last checked around Christmas and the store was pretty empty with lots of open slots.

Suzanne, there's a room only accessible through a set of glass doors that, when I was there last Xmas, was definitely temperature controlled. There are also wines for sale in the main area, but those aren't the ones I'm referring to.

Blue Provence closed the wine store; restaurant took the space.
B-21 is about three hours north of Ft. Myers.

Blue Provence was probably losing too much money in free samples.

I ate (and drank!) at Bleu Provence just a few weeks ago. It was our anniversary, so I thought it was worth a shot.

Observations: Place was packed from 5:30 until closing. Median age in dining room is roughly mid-70's with lots of blue hair on the women and large stomachs on the men. The crowd gets younger later in the evening. Lots of people eating what is essential a fancy version of "surf and turf." If you order carefully, the food is actually pretty good.

Hard to believe anyone knows about the true gems on the list, and there are some wonderful wines at amazingly great prices.

They have an extensive list of Raveneau in their cellar. When the store was still operating, the guy that ran the store sold a case of it and the owner had a hissy fit. I think he likes to say he has a great list of Raveneau and then sit back and admire it.
