Btw, forgot to mention an '02 CDB Moelleux 1ere Trie that was opened on 10/25 when Lou and BettyLu Kessler were over, was delightful. Vivid and fresh with plenty of cut and showing reduced sweetness than on release.

A great description of a bottle of this opened at Bibou on 10/26 to go with mushroom soup. the table raved, fantastic wine.

last 2 bottles of 02 Le Mont Sec were both gone to oxidation heaven. Probelm is 6 more left in the case and 9 more 02 Le Haut Lieu Sec all Chambers Street with Chatterdon labels

A first release Petillant this morning was very noticeably oxidized. It made an adequate mimosa so long as I went heavy on the orange juice.

Opening an 02 le mont demi later. Wish me luck.

It was terrific. Very light in color, a bit woolly on the nose and shy on the palate to strt but blossomed quickly and was yumola the two hours or so it st in the decanter or my glass. Bought from Chambers upon release.

Had an '02 Bourg demisec over Christmas. Shy at first, not giving much, pale and stony. Opened with air, by the time the last glass was poured it was quite vibrant and charming.

A 2002 Le Mont demi sec was a bit darker than I would have hoped but in retrospect was a light gold. Not fresh as a daisy but still alive and well.

Opened my last bottle of the 2002 first release petillant purchased at CSW on relase

Not as dead as some but far from pristine. Dumped.

Had an '02 Reserve Petillant today that was the freshest bottle I've had in probably the last five or so years. No sign of premox, nice and fresh, pithy with quince and mineral and a pleasant bitter note.

The double-gotcha on the 02 Huet's is that, even if they're good, you're under pressure to drink them at a forced pace, which degrades them into something of a chore to drink, rather than a particular pleasure.

We are richly endowed in the 02's, because I bought a bunch for my son as a birth-year wine, so the situation is either very galling or pretty funny, depending on your mood.

Any data on the 02 Moelleux and 1ere tries?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't open this thread without a pang of sadness. Additionally, '02 was the first vintage of Huet I'd bought after wandering into Therapy lo those many years ago. Fortunately for us, we ignored the sage advise of Dr. SFJoe and drank all our up while they were still babies.

Had an '02 Premier Trie around New Years, I forget if it was CDB or LM, but it was in good shape. So far I haven't come across any problems with Moelleux or sweeter, but I've had far fewer of them as Petillant, Sec, or Demi-Sec.

Thanks. So far, we've had good luck with the petillants, especially the second release. A bottle opened last weekend was crisp and pristine.

Knock on wood.

Opened a 2002 Haut-Lieu Demi-Sec last night. Gold color, it initially showed some hints of sherry on the nose, but those faded and honeyed fruit took over with air. It seemed to get fresher and the acidity more pronounced as the night went on, which brought out more nuance. A very good showing for a wine that has shown variability.

Opened an '02 Mont Sec last week. Amber color and muchachimas caramel in the mouth. But the acidity was lively and the wine vital and alive, delicious on its own and excellent with tomato-based cod stew. Temperature was key: cold from the 'fridge, the wine was sour, thin, excessively acidic. At cool room temperature, it was fine wine, and drank well over three days.
