They changed their wine making style as of the 2006 vintage as Wells wasn't happy with how the riper wines were aging. For my palate greatly improved.

1996 Trimbach CFE - just lovely, very prim and proper
2000 Trimbach CFE - a little heavy handed, but will drink anytime
1999 Michel Magnien Chambolle Fremières
2003 Lapierre Morgon - too much of some things, not enough of others
1997 Voge Cornas Cuvée Les Vieilles Fontaines - very comforting, danced in the tongue
2001 Clape Cornas - everything you expect
1997 Brundlmayer Zobinger Heiligenstein Alte Reben Riesling - perfect division between fierce and fruit
2000 Ch“teau Simone Provence Palette Blanc - a bit young perhaps, but unique and fun
1959 Huet Moelleux 1ere Trie Clos du Bourg - not much more can be said about this
2008 Domaine de Montbourgeau l’Etoile - I loved it, but didn't shine in the exalted company.
2010 Anthill Farms Pinot Noir Tina Marie Vineyard - I'm a fan. light on its feet and great red fruit.
NV Jerome Prevost Champagne La Closerie Les Beguines Extra Brut - good as always
1995 Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle - next (has anyone tried the efforts of the billionaire's daughter? too good a vineyard to be wasted like this?)
1999 Chateau Rieussec - missed this
2000 Copain Pinot Noir Hein Vineyard - next
1970 Domaine de Chevalier rouge - great claret
1993 Drouhin Vosne-Romanée - think I missed this
2005 Els Jelipins from Penedes, Spain - Always fun to try this. really fun, but a bit pricey....

1997 Couly-Dutheil Chinon Clos de l'Echo - eh
1989 Chateau Soucherie Chaume - missed this
2012 Willi Schaefer Riesling Graacher Domprobst Auslese - just fucking delicious
half bottle of Rhys Pinot - eh, standard cali pinot, next

2007 Dashe enfant terrible - better years ago

hey Scott -
I realize that Marc, being in the auction business, needs not keep track of Schaefer Auslesen AP numbers, but you my friend my have to :-) ;-)

It was the #14 Auslese. I had to check in on my recent shipment, didn't I? Turns out to be my favorite of the 2012 Auslesen (not that I've tried or have any expectation of trying any auction bottlings).

CS served #14 second to last, just before the auction Auslese. I guess he knows what he is doing. And so does Jay!

Half bottle or 750?

1996 Trimbach CFE - lovely
2000 Trimbach CFE - less lovely
1999 Michel Magnien Chambolle Fremières - shut down
2003 Lapierre Morgon - interesting to try, glad I didn't lay any down
1997 Voge Cornas Cuvée Les Vieilles Fontaines - delightful old Cornas
2001 Clape Cornas - Okay, good, not nearly so interesting as the Voge. 15 year rule people!
1997 Brundlmayer Zobinger Heiligenstein Alte Reben Riesling - Gorgeous
2000 Ch“teau Simone Provence Palette Blanc - I've never been a Simone fan
1959 Huet Moelleux 1ere Trie Clos du Bourg - Amazing.
2008 Domaine de Montbourgeau l’Etoile - missed it
2010 Anthill Farms Pinot Noir Tina Marie Vineyard - My second Anthill. I liked the first one a lot better
NV Jerome Prevost Champagne La Closerie Les Beguines Extra Brut - this should not have been one of the last wines opened. Beautiful but light enough to be overwhelmed
1995 Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle - boring, quickly dumped
1999 Chateau Rieussec - nice if not compelling Sauternes
2000 Copain Pinot Noir Hein Vineyard - eh
1970 Domaine de Chevalier rouge - beautiful old Bordeaux
1993 Drouhin Vosne-Romanée Petits Monts - gorgeous wine. Last time I had it .sasha opened one at Inside.
2005 Els Jelipins from Penedes, Spain - I was fading by the time I noticed this
1974 Simi Zinfandel Sonoma "Special Vintage" - beautiful old zinfandel
1997 Couly-Dutheil Chinon Clos de l'Echo - amazing how that finish dropped off. A blessing really.
1989 Chateau Soucherie Chaume - good, but should not have been served after the Huet
2012 Willi Schaefer Riesling Graacher Domprobst Auslese #14 - lovely
2012 Rhys Pinot Noir "Alpine" (375 ml)- I'm assured this tastes entirely different at the winery. Travel shock?
2011 Eminence Road Cabernet Franc - big thumbs up!
2007 Dashe enfant terrible - missed it
1989 prince florent de merode Pommard Clos de la Platiere - lovely
1985 Grahams - good, unexciting
2004 Larmandier - Bernier vv cramant - wsa I really drinking dry Champagne after Port? Why?

I cleared out 3 premoxed bottles of Huet - 1x LHL Sec, 2x LHL Demi Sec

At least they're not taking up space. I actually didn't think the Sec was that bad early on. The demis were apple cider.

you have an old note on that, Jay?
I remember the occasion, but I question the vintage. Far more likely that it was 88, 89, 90 or 91. No?

Some nice gems there. I suspect a few of the underperformers would have fared better under other circumstances. As a couple of the notes suggest.

What vintage of Prevost?

'11.
Thanks. The 2011 was very closed when I tried it in February, kind of like being slapped with salty brick. Whereas the '09 has been delicious recently. But also promising greater things to come.

Tell me more? While I've tasted widely of '09, I've probably only knowingly had a few Champagnes based on '11.
