This is, of course, a ridiculous marketing gambit. But it reminds me of a friend. He loves wine and for many years had the means to buy much of what he liked. He fell on hard times and couldn't afford what he used to buy. Even a $10 bottle became a threat to his budget. Still, to amuse himself, he'd buy close-out stuff sold through a place called Grocery Outlet. He'd taste, figure out how wines might work as components, and then try various blends. He was under no illusion that the Grenache blend he mixed up was suddenly Vieux Telegraphe, but I thought it was a touching way to stay connected to wine. He still has some nice wines in his cellar, too, but he rations those out, so they'll last him.
