Coravin Hazard

Peter Creasey

Peter Creasey
it has come to our attention that, in certain circumstances, wine bottles can burst when used with the Coravin System, presenting a risk of lacerations.

We have voluntarily stopped selling and shipping Coravin Systems until we can fully implement an approved Corrective Action Plan.

I wonder if by chance it's the same bottles that I find not to be able to withstand the pressure of an ah-so corkscrew

Glass is very vulnerable to superficial defects, particularly fresh ones. They can propagate in a hurry even if they start very small.

See--any glazier cutting glass, marks from diamonds, sabering, and any other common glass cutting operations. Remember cutting glass tubing with that little triangular file in high school? Same drill.
