Both superb. At lunch at Zuni Cafe. A classic is something that was great, is familiar and yet continues to surprise and remain great. Such is lunch at Zuni.

Wow.

I had some pretty good carryout and a Diet Coke for lunch today in the conference room with clients.

Lunch? You folks have time for lunch? It must be, as the blessed spirit of Joe Dressner once opined, that this site is littered with trust fund babies (and aging hipsters). I had 15 min to scarf down a mango salad and burrito bowl at a nearby Qdoba while putting the finishing touch on the talk I'll be bringing with me to England next week.

Such is the lot of the working stiff,

Sheesh, Monsieur L., crouching over a (tasty, braised, duly pricy) sandwich three blocks from the office for ca. 20 mins before a coworker had to go to an attorney meeting isn't the palm tree experience.

The sandwiches are great, though.

And I regret to say that the space works it, annoyingly blasting music, bringing downtown to mid-.

My coworker thought the distressed wood ceiling was just poor, rather than intentional.

They make their own limeade with rosemary, which is amusing and tasty faux soda. This is good for the worker bee.

I live a life without many deadlines, so there's always time for lunch. Just like there's always time for exercise, sleep and cooking dinner. Otherwise how can you expect to maintain optimal productivity in the long-term. It may be a cliche, but it's true, academic life is much more a marathon than a sprint.

I'm in Berlin for the summer and have lunch with colleagues at the research institute, at the canteen. Which is MUCH different from my usual style of eating at my desk while reading online. But each has its benefits. I like hanging out with folks and the setting here is nice. The only problem is that I'm behind in my reading about cultural affairs!

Geeze . . . no recollection of yesterdays lunch. That's sad. Will do better today.

The typography on the Beaune bottle is gorgeous. Nice to see someone still cares.
