Kapcsandy Family Winery Yountville State Lane Vineyard Rosé '09 -- Rust color, lusty bouquet, red fruits, terse citrus aromas, lots of grip and complexity, acid and fruit in balance, nice dryness, more serious than your typical rose. [E]

Served with Marcona almonds and cheese and crackers.

Dr Loosen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese Gold Capsule Riesling '06 -- Golden yellow, abundant fruit (apples, pears, citrus, etc.), almost muscular acidity backs up the solid fruit, lots of richness and fullness, slightly sweet, complex, fresh, impressive viscosity. [E]

Served with tomato tart and gazpacho.

Pierre Damoy Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Tamisot '05 -- Dark red, fervent bouquet, spice, dark fruits, earth, ample smooth tannins, cherries and berries, perhaps a bit dry, a rather rustic profile that suits well, still on the upslope of evolution. [E]

Served with roast pork tender and artichoke/bean/asparagus/corn/peas/etc. confit.

And certain of the wines carried forward rather nicely with the brownies and caramel ice cream.

At dinner, we were uncertain as to whether the Pierre Damoy Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Tamisot was a monopole.

Subsequently, it took some research, but I finally found what appears to be the answer to our question. Zachy's says that it is "a monopole of the Domaine with vines that were planted in 1922". I saw some other less conclusive references also to it being a monopole.

[EDITED TO ADD] Since it apparently is a monopole, I checked the bottle again and there is no indication of this fact. I would have expected this to have been specified somewhere on the label.

Clive Coates says it is a Villages lieu-dit monopole. That may explain why it isn't on the label... it's just Villages.

Amusingly, in the 1997 edition of his Burgundy book, in the Damoy entry, Coates opines that Dom. Damoy has greatly improved and he wishes that other domaines would, too, like, say, Fourrier.
