Phylloxera of Coffee?

Well, not an insect. Maybe more like potato blight for coffee? Maybe more like florescence doree, or esca, or whatever that itch is in my socks?

Anyhow, real trouble in coffee land.
 
It seems odd that spraying should be such a difficult solution. Imagine what wine production would be without fungicide. Not that I take Slate as reliable source on what the problems really are.
