Eminent

Damn, this 2008 blend of merlot and cabernet franc from Kim Engle at Bloomer Creek is a savory delight. Texture, just great texture.

Dig that wine. Did you try his Cabernet when you there?

So, last night we went for the 2012 Eminence Road Pinot Noir. Darker than the Enderle & Moll from the previous evening. Nose a bit closed, showing some cherry/strawberry. Good mouthweight and acid/sweet balance, though the sweetness had a slightly burnt sugar aspect that I didn't particularly love. What I liked best about it was the saltiness, that made it go great with food. Whereas the E&M seemed more stellar and stand-alone, the ER seemed more unassuming, more supporting actor-type, so actually went down faster. Was an interesting contrast of two non-French pinots from very different places, both punching in the same (correct) weight category.
